Healthcare work asks more of you than most people will ever understand. The long hours, the constant decision-making, the emotional load, and the expectation to stay composed through situations that would shake anyone.
Therapy gives you a steady place to pause, breathe, and process what your work asks of you, without judgment, pressure, or needing to “be the strong one.”
I’ve supported many healthcare workers and their families through these exact experiences. You’re not alone here.
You’re juggling demanding shifts, missed milestones, and the emotional spillover that affects the people you love.
You’ve witnessed more than you ever expected to. Some moments stay with you long after the shift ends.
You move from crisis to crisis, often without time to reset, and your nervous system never quite powers down.
You care deeply about your patients, but some days it feels like you’ve run out of emotional reserve.
Life in medicine leaves its mark, even when you love the work.
This service is for healthcare professionals and their families who want support navigating the unique stressors, emotional weight, and personal impacts of working in high-intensity care settings.
The ability to leave work at work — and be more available at home.
Less reactivity and fewer spikes into overwhelm.
Instead of feeling maxed out every day, you have room to breathe again.
Therapy for healthcare professionals isn’t about solving everything overnight. It’s about giving your mind and body space to process what’s been asked of you, so you can move through life with more steadiness, clarity, and internal calm.
You won’t get a “just relax” therapist here. I’m warm, a little humorous, and fully human right alongside you.
I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting people in high-stress and high-responsibility environments — including healthcare professionals and first responders. Before opening Paper Birch Therapy, I spent more than ten years in emergency departments alongside nurses, physicians, techs, and crisis teams.
That time gave me a deep understanding of hospital culture, the emotional weight of patient care, and the toll that long shifts, constant pressure, and repeated exposure to trauma can take.
Therapy with me is steady, practical, and collaborative. You don’t need to explain the realities of your work — I already understand the pace, the pressure, and the impact.
Healthcare work doesn’t leave much room to slow down, and the emotional weight of your job doesn’t clock out when you do. This therapy process offers a steady, supportive rhythm to help you understand your nervous system, make sense of what’s been piling up, and work through the impact of repeated stress, loss, and responsibility. It’s designed to meet you whether you’re in direct patient care, supporting medical teams, or carrying the long-term effects of being “on” for everyone else.

Therapy is an investment in your wellbeing, your career longevity, and your life outside the hospital or clinic. My goal is to make the process transparent and approachable, so you always know what to expect.
YOUR TIME IS NOW
I accept both insurance and private pay for healthcare professional and family sessions. If you plan to use your insurance, I’m happy to help you understand your coverage and what your out-of-pocket costs may be.
Under the No Surprises Act, you’re entitled to a Good Faith Estimate outlining expected costs for your care. You’ll receive this information before we begin, and you can request an updated estimate at any time.
Many healthcare workers don’t have the same availability from week to week, and therapy shouldn’t add stress to your plate. You can self-schedule sessions at the times that work for you, rather than committing to a fixed weekly slot. We’ll find a rhythm that supports consistency and respects the realities of your schedule.
Listen, I get it. You're stretched thin, but therapy is an investment in your capacity to live, work, and connect in a way that feels sustainable. When you have space to process what’s been weighing on you, you often gain more energy, patience, and clarity in return. And your sessions don’t have to look the same every season; many clients shift their frequency based on what they need. The goal is for therapy to give something back to you, not take more from an already stretched schedule.
In therapy, we look at the patterns connecting your stressors and identify the areas that will create the most meaningful change. Sometimes that’s workplace pressure; sometimes it’s what’s happening at home; often it’s a blend of both. We'll collaborate to set priorities that feel realistic and supportive for the season you’re in.
You can bring anything into the room. While many healthcare professionals start therapy because of work-related stress or burnout, our conversations are always client-driven. Relationships, family dynamics, identity shifts, past experiences — it all connects.
You get to choose what feels most important each session, and we’ll follow what supports your wellbeing as a whole person, not just as a provider.
Processing the emotional impact of your work is therapeutic, especially in a field where you’re expected to absorb crisis after crisis without a place to put it. But we won’t stop at venting.
We’ll look at patterns, coping strategies, boundaries, and the deeper experiences shaping your reactions. The goal is relief, clarity, and long-term change, not just unloading.
